— Our house

A decade of trading
Java's finest.

Karya Java Coffee Group is a privately-held green coffee commodity house founded in Surabaya in 2014. We connect the smallholder cooperatives, state estates, and washing stations of East and Central Java to industrial roasters, soluble plants, and specialty distributors on four continents.

We were founded on a single principle: that the Ijen, Jampit, Pancoer, and Kayumas estates — some of the oldest coffee plantings in the world — deserved a trading partner with the same patience as the volcanic terroir that produces them. Ten years on, we move close to 180,000 bags a year across two commodity desks (Arabica & Robusta) and one specialty desk.

Our owners remain active in the business. Our Q-graders cup every offer. And our vessel desk — perhaps unusually for a house of our size — owns and books its own shipping capacity on long-term charter with the major container lines.

01

Origin-first

Direct relationships with 14 cooperatives across 6 Javanese regencies, plus long-term offtake from PTPN XII estates.

02

Owner-operated

Family-owned since founding. We answer to clients, not quarterly earnings.

03

10-year vessel book

Multi-year contracts with six global container lines — capacity, not spot-market exposure.

— Through the chain

From cherry, to consignment.

Every bag we ship has passed through a dozen hands before it ever leaves the port of Surabaya. These are the stages we own, audit, and stand behind.

— The Island

Java — the original coffee island.

The word "Java" is, for many of our buyers, the oldest word in coffee. Indonesian production today ranks fourth globally, and the island of Java remains the reference origin for washed Indonesian Arabica.

Where we sit in the global green coffee market

Green coffee is concentrated. The "Big Four" trade desks — NKG, ECOM, Volcafe, and Sucafina — move roughly 40% of the world's green coffee. We are a focused origin specialist: a small house, but a real one, with our own vessel book.
